Most little girls like playing with dolls that resemble them, whether that means they share the same color eyes or a similar hair style, or even if they share a disability of some form. Think about it. Don't you like knowing there are other people facing the same challenges you face each day, that you're not alone?

Well, little Emma and her mom Amy are trying to convince Mattel, the maker of the Barbie line of dolls, of that, too. Emma has diabetes and wants a Diabetic Barbie. She's not trying to preach any critical social message about what to eat or how to treat it. She simply wants a Barbie that resembles her, with her special pump that is such a critical part of her daily routine. Emma's mom even created a mock up of what it would look like. Seems simple enough to me.

She has a Facebook group started to help build support for the idea.

There's an effort underway for a bald and beautiful Barbie for cancer patients, too.

Seems to me there could be a complete line of Barbies created for children with special needs.

Why not? They would probably sell well in hospitals around the country, but beyond that, would do so much for the children facing these issues. And how could that be a bad move Mattel?

Sisters Jessica and Stephanie are both mothers of two young
children, best friends and own The Hopefull Company. It is a
Minnesota based small business which offers a products for children
and adults who are having trouble eating due to cancer (and
chemotherapy), sensory issues or finicky eating habits. The HopeFULL Company sells a gift pack kit that contains 20 nutrient-dense frozen "meal pop" recipes and the items for making them. HopeFULL's founders say it's popular with parents of finicky eaters and those who just want a healthy snack on hand.

The sisters say they work well together, bringing a different set of skills
and talents to the table - creating a perfect pair!

The company was
inspired by a family friend who was diagnosed with Leukemia in 2009.
She had a tough time eating and this helped.

The sisters were recently honored in NYC at the
Stevie Awards, an international award recognizing women in business.
The HopeFULL Gift Pack was nominated as best new product of the year!

They also were recently on the nationally syndicated daytime talk show "The
Nate Berkus Show" (which filmed in NYC November 9th, 2011) to discuss
the products, Stevie award nomination and to get styled for The Stevie
Award show by Hal Rubenstein, fashion editor of InStyle Magazine.

WHAT'S NEXT: They are off to meet Martha Stewart and attend the
Martha Stewart Dreamers Into Doers 2012 Event in NYC this March!

They are also working on product
packaging to make the products ready for the retail world.

The HopeFULL Company is about helping children and adults eat and
enjoy whole foods as well as about paying it forward when ever they can.
They donate their time, products and a portion of our proceeds to
organizations such as CaringBridge, Open Arms of Minnesota and
Children’s Lighthouse of Minnesota, a Future Children’s Hospice Home.
They will also begin to focus on helping organizations that are aimed at
fighting the childhood obesity crisis.

We wanted men to be more sensitive, show their feelings, cry a little, but we weren’t asking for puddles and now we want to know where the real men have gone.

What have we created? Seriously?

In the book Being the Strong Man A Woman
Wants the author, Elliott Katz, explains there are "Today’s men have received so many confusing messages on what a man
should be, they’re bewildered.”

"To avoid accusations of being controlling, many men have gone to the other
extreme and avoid showing leadership and making decisions. The irony is
that while men think they’re being sensitive and non-controlling, the biggest
complaint I hear from women is that men today don’t show leadership, they
don’t make decisions and they won’t take responsibility,'" says Katz,
whose book Being the Strong Man A Woman Wants: Timeless wisdom on being a man
is being translated into 18 languages in Asia, Europe and Latin America.

A recent study by Washington-based Pew Research Center reported that in 43 per cent of couples,
women make more decisions in the four areas surveyed: planning weekend
activities, household finances, major home purchases and TV watching.

Show leadership

One of women’s biggest complaints is that men don’t show their share of
leadership in the relationship. When a man sees a situation that needs to be
dealt with, he should step forward and handle it. People admire those who
step forward to handle difficult situations – and don’t wait for others to
solve the problem.

Make decisions

To avoid accusations of being controlling, a lot of men have gone to the
other extreme – they leave most decisions to their wives. A man needs to
make his share of decisions and take responsibility for the outcome. To many
women, a man who avoids decisions is shirking his responsibilities. One of
the meanings of the word "manly" is being decisive.

Take responsibility

Take responsibility for improving the situation. Don’t blame others. There
is little sympathy for a man who blames a woman – even when he thinks she
pushed him into it. People will say, "You’re the man. Why did you let it go
on?" One of the meanings of the word "husband" is someone who skillfully
manages his household. Managers take responsibility.

"Divorced women have said that if their husbands had understood these
crucial truths, their marriages would not have disintegrated," Katz says.

He
also shares tips for women on encouraging men to take the lead:

Let him decide

If he asks you to make a decision, such as choosing a restaurant, simply
say: "You decide." Then don't say anything else.

“Would you please handle it”
Ask him to take charge of handling a problem, but don’t tell him what to
do. If he asks, say: “You decide. If you’re not sure, do research. That’s
what I do.” Avoid contradicting him unless what he wants to do is damaging.

Encourage him

Tell him he made a good decision and how you appreciate when he takes
charge and handles a problem. If he made a mistake, tell him what you learned
from it

I love tennis and love watching great tennis players like Venus and Serena Williams. They are simply phenomenal. Yet, there are questions in the sport about how much longer they’ll be around.

My answer: as long as they feel like it.

These two prove all the time that they can do anything they want. Sure, they have natural talent, but they also work their you-know-what off to make their goals reality.

Sure, Venus now has a rare auto-immune disorder. And yes, Serena struggled with an ankle injury recently, along with some health issues last year.

But not much can keep these gals down.

They are as good as it gets in my book and no matter what comes their way, they’ll be on the court as long as they have fun being there.

Elizabeth Olsen--Ashley and Mary Kate Olsen's Little Sister

Remember the adorable Olson twins who grew up under our eyes? Did you know they had a sister?

Turns out she’s beautiful (just check out the image above), just like they are, and a very talented actress if you believe the reviews coming from her performance in Martha Marcy May Marlene. Elizabeth Olsen, the little sis to Mary Kate and Ashley, is 22 years old. Martha Marcy May Marlene was released in the US last year and is being released in the UK on February 3rd.
